What causes popcorn to pop?

Popcorn popping is simply a tiny explosion. Popcorn kernels contain moisture. When that popcorn kernel is heated to about 400 degrees in a popcorn machine, the moisture turns to steam, expands, and tries to escape. When there is enough pressure built up for the steam to burst through the kernel's hard outer shell, the popcorn pops and we hear the explosion. The kernel turns itself inside out, and that's the part we eat. Try popcorn portions packs for simplicity, containing oil, salt and popcorn, watch a video of 2 children preparing popcorn.

There are various types and brands of popcorn machines available for popping popcorn, one very popular popcorn machine for concession stands is the Benchmark street vendor popcorn machine, and I will go into some of those options in the near future. There are also lots of popcorn supplies available for creating various flavors.

In the mean time, you can find more information on concession equipment and supplies www.concessionobsession.com
